Hi friends and family
Time for an update from Glasgow! It’s hard to believe I have been here for almost 2 months already (7 weeks to be exact!) because it feels like a lot has happened in a short space of time.
New season, new assignment
As a church we have recently had to move venue temporarily. We are grateful for God’s provision in this time but are still actively trusting and looking for a new venue we can call our permanent home. Please pray with us for favour and open doors to find the right space for our church.
A few weeks ago, I was officially prayed into my new role here in Glasgow as Discipleship and Media Lead. I am so thankful for this opportunity to make disciples and help others make disciples! This has always been our mandate and this is where the life is - following Jesus and helping others follow Jesus.
Sharing my heart with the church - being in Glasgow is a promise God gave me over 30 years ago! What a joy to finally be here!
Follow Course
My first responsibility has been to oversee our Follow 01 and 02 courses that we launched this week. The Follow Course is a 3-part discipleship journey in response to Jesus’ invitation to “Come, follow Me”. We are running the first 2 parts of this course simultaneously for the first time. I was so excited to teach Follow 01 this week as we did a deep dive into the parable of the prodigal son in Luke 15. It will always be a privilege to witness the extravagant love of the Father transform people’s lives (mine included!)
We have 16 people signed up for Follow 01 and 12 people for Follow 02, so I would appreciate your prayers over the next few weeks!
Something is stirring
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to worship Jesus with over 3500 people here in Glasgow at a worship evening hosted by The Revelation Room (these photos are shared from their Instagram page). Brooke Ligertwood led us in worship, along with the sound of bagpipes and penny whistles which felt hugely significant for the nation of Scotland. It was beautiful to see different generations and denominations come together in unity, lifting up the name of Jesus in this nation.
Tonight, we will be attending a prayer and worship event called The Revival, also contending for God to re-open the wells of revival in our nation. As many of you know, Scotland has a rich history of unusual and powerful moves of God… and something is definitely stirring right now and I am so excited to be a part of it.
Pray for Glasgow
I don’t know about you, but when I am in a new place I like to walk around and pray. As I was walking around our neighbourhood the other day, this caught my attention and it pretty well sums up what we are contending for here in Glasgow :) on the one side of the road is an old building representing the rich history of the gospel and the seeds already planted in our city and on the other side, a coffee shop with some innocent halloween decor? It felt to me like a mockery of the gospel (not visible in the photo is the word INRI written on the white cross, which was the sign placed on Jesus’s cross - also intended to mock Jesus as being the “King of the Jews”. ) This image of contrasts motivates me to pray! For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes! (Romans 1:16)
Continued prayer requests
I am still looking for my own flat (I am still staying with my very generous friends but I really need to find my own place soon)
I am also still looking for a part-time job. I have applied for a few things unsuccessfully, but I am still waiting on one application for a part-time role with a community music organisation which looks interesting. Please pray that the right door opens.
What I am ultimately trusting God for is new financial partners to join my team so that I don't have to have a part time job but can focus on ministry full-time. Please agree with me in prayer that God will give me new partners. If you can think of anyone who has a heart for missions and might want to partner with me please to share this newsletter with them.
Thank You
Thank you so much for your faithful support - both financial and in prayer. Your generosity enables me to do what I do and every life impacted for God is made possible because of your partnership. I am so grateful.
Please let me know how I can pray for you and how you’re doing!
Sending much love,
Fiona
