June news
Hi everyone
June was a busy month but thankfully things have slowed down for the Summer!
A few updates:
Campus ministry training
A few weeks ago, our church staff decided to do an intensive week of campus ministry training together. We are trusting God for new strategies to reach university students with the Gospel. It was good to set aside this time to focus on campus ministry. Please pray with us as we re-launch in September that we would be able to connect with students and find favour on the campuses. We know the harvest is ready, so we are trusting God to meet students who are ready to hear the Gospel.
Student Leaders Camp
Student leaders from London, Dublin, Edinburgh, Paris, Marseille, Lisbon, Bournemouth and Cardiff.
Two weeks ago we had our annual Every Nation Campus Leader’s camp where student leaders from all over Europe meet together for a week of equipping and ministry. This year we were a relatively small group but it was an amazing week full of significant times together. I helped with worship and teaching, as well as driving the minivan up and down the mountain :) for those who know the mountain roads in the South of France, this is enough to increase anyone’s prayer life haha!
Loved helping the worship team and seeing the next generation take the lead
The Amazing Race - some outdoor fun in some crazy heat!
Representing Team Marseille!
Next-generation
We have been busy with a Foundations series, where we have been giving some of our young leaders the opportunity to preach on Sundays. I’m so encouraged to see some of the people I have been mentoring step out in faith and preach the gospel. We need to be intentional about raising leaders.
Julie preaching for the first time! She did great!
Sofia update
For those who have been praying for Sofia, I’m so happy to report that she was cleared to travel back to the USA to continue her studies. Her next scan will be in December, so we are trusting God for a good report! Thank you all so much for your prayers - we are so thankful.
Baptism
I had the pleasure of baptising Eva in her parent’s pool in Istres - just outside of Marseille. It was so special seeing her whole family celebrate this step of faith with her!
Holiday
At the beginning of July, my friend Traci and I took a week of holiday which was very much needed! The average temperature was somewhere in the 40s, so we were very grateful for aircon, numerous dips in the Mediterranean, and ice-cream! We took a drive along the coast to have a swim in Spain, just because we could :) it is such a beautiful coastline!
Popped in to Cadasquès, Spain, for a quick swim :)
Looking ahead
Some significant news is that Matt and Christy are going to the States for a few months of sabbatical. They leave at the end of July, leaving me in charge of the church for the 5 months they are away. I would really appreciate your prayers over this time. If you are willing to join my prayer team to specifically cover me a bit more intentionally for these 5 months, please let me know.
Thank You
Thank you all so much for your continued support. For those of you in South Africa, I won’t be visiting this year as I need to stay in Marseille to cover things while Matt and Christy are away, but I would love to catch up with you over video chat until I get the chance to catch up in person. Let me know if you’d like to schedule a chat!.
I appreciate you all so much.
Praying for you and sending lots of love,
Fiona
